100mph winds brought down hundreds of trees in both the upper and lower forests, with the lower forest suffering the worst. We have cleared the path to the waterfall and library already and work will start on clearing and opening paths in the lower forest over the next few days as machinery will be required to both move trees and to repair damaged paths.
You can donate to our emergency fund which will help to cover this initial cost, and any surplus will be carried forward to help with replanting at a future date.
For now there are several weeks’ worth of work to be done clearing dozens of fallen trees that are blocking paths and making safe many others, a lot of which are in precarious positions on fairly steep banking that will require complex and careful work to make safe.
